In Yorktown Heights, N.Y., IBM has built a mock set of the popular game show "Jeopardy" to a test a new type of supercomputer called "Watson." Watson is based on the same type of technology as Big Blue's other Blue Gene supercomputers and uses natural language technologies. Right now, Watson is the most visible of several research projects under way at IBM's two upstate New York research facilities named after T.J. Watson. About a 15-minute drive from Yorktown Heights, IBM has another research facility in Hawthorne to showcase the company's inventions and innovations from the 1950s through present day.
